Why is fitness important to you?

I believe staying active can make a big difference in quality of life, both currently as well as when one ages.

How do you stay motivated/inspired?

In the past it has been the desire to do well in events and place high in the overall and age group standings. As I’ve gotten older and my fastest days are behind me my motivation now comes from setting an example for my kids to follow by making sure I train even if I don’t have as much time to dedicate to it as I once did. I’m happy that I can still get out and run with my kids, and who knows, maybe I still have a couple fast 5Ks left in me before all is said and done!

Favorite memory from running or event or?

Winning the Dino Half Marathon in 2018 was probably one of them. There’s been so many, placing in the top three overall in the Run Denver Series for 6 straight years, watching my son Colton win the 12 and under age division in the Run Denver Series the last two years, and being there when he and his club team won the USATF 11-12 boys division cross country national championship are highlights. Watching my wife win the Pikes Peak Marathon Masters Division and pacing my dad to a top 10 finish in his age group in the Boston Marathon would also have to be in there!

Anything else you want to share?

I’m proud to be a part of the HAL Sports team and have known Lonnie for a long time. I’m really thrilled that these events are still going strong and that my two boys are now participants and getting to experience the joy they have brought me over the years!

What is your HAL (Healthy Active Lifestyle)?

Family, running, coaching, playing guitar and teaching PE to future generations!

Should the toilet paper roll be put on with the paper coming out under or over the roll?  HA!

Definitely over!
