My name is Liz Schwemlein and I live in Conifer, Colorado. I am mom to three amazing and active boys (11,13,16). I am originally from Western New York, but have lived in Colorado for almost 20 years. Longer than I have lived anywhere, so this is truly home! I love hiking, being outdoors in the fresh mountain air, and traveling with my kids. I am always up for a new adventure. Having new experiences and pushing beyond my comfort zone is what makes me thrive!
I started running when I was 8 years old at a local 5k in my hometown. And boy did I hate it—running is hard! Somehow I decided that I would conquer running and joined
the middle school cross-country team and then continued recreational distance running as an adult. I have since completed 3 50k ultramarathons, 13 marathons, and 20 half marathons and have the goal of completing at least a half marathon in every state. While I truly prefers longer distances, as speed is not my thing, I enjoy running 5k races with my sons. We have been participating in HAL sports races together since 2014!
I am very passionate about introducing others to the sport of running and the benefits of being active —particularly young people. I have co-coached the West Jefferson Middle School Cross-Country team and Track team in Conifer for the past 5 years. I find it to be such a rewarding and amazing experience to watch kids develop strength and endurance, physically and mentally, through running. I look forward to being a part of the HAL Racing Team to expand my involvement in the Colorado running community and continue to spread the joy of a Healthy Active Lifestyle.
